Pack to School



Dear Friend,

Over the last 13 years, 148,000 Israeli children have received the essentials to make the most of their education through your support of the Pack to School project.

Now in Pack to School’s ‘Bar Mitzvah’ year, Barry and I ask for your prayers and gifts to help the program grow into the next stage and bless even more children.

This year we hope to distribute 13,000 packs filled with academic supplies – 1,000 for each of the 13 years the program has helped children reach their potential. And from this year on, we will expand the project to not only include school supplies and beautiful backpacks, but also financial aid for textbooks.

Unlike many countries where books are automatically supplied for elementary and secondary school, Israeli parents need to buy textbooks and workbooks for their children. Our experience over the last years working closely with both schools and parents is that many children simply go without because their families cannot afford the required textbooks.

One in three school age children in Israel is living below the poverty line. Your Pack to School gift can mean the difference between a child falling behind academically or having the chance to soar in school.

For just £15 we can make a huge difference in the life of a child who has nowhere else to turn, giving them a brand new backpack brimming with supplies for the whole school year. Recently, we have received many requests from needy families and social services personnel to help cover the high price of textbooks. This year Vision for Israel is pleased to be able to add to our regular program an additional gift of finacial aid for 1,000 families – enabling them to purchase school books for their children.

Every time I see a child’s face light up as they open their beautiful new backpack for the first time, I lift a prayer thanking God. It is very personal for me, and I smile along with the children. Like a lot of first generation Israeli Jews born to Yemenite immigrants, we had a big family and my parents could not afford a new bag for each of us.

I was the youngest and watched as a beautiful leather bag passed from one sister to another until it finally reached me. By that time it was torn and the color faded. I almost cried! But, my father sat me on his knee and lovingly sewed the holes and tears. Then he buffed the leather until it shined, and presented me with my “new” school bag.

Now I know our Heavenly Father is reaching out with the same love through our partnership with you. Yeshua the Messiah said of little children “for of such is the Kingdom of God.” (Mark 10:14)

In order to distribute packs in time for the coming school year, Vision for Israel must order the school packs starting right now! Please do not delay your gift for the Pack to School project so that we can make sure your blessing to the children of Israel is delivered on time.
